Accessibility statement

This site is built to conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Here is what that means, how it was tested, and what to do if something does not work for you.

Conformance

ADA Rights Trust aims for full conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the technical standard the U.S. Department of Justice adopted for public entities and the benchmark courts apply to private websites under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

How the site is built

  • Plain HTML and CSS with no JavaScript, so nothing is injected, hidden, or changed after the page loads.
  • No accessibility overlay or widget. Overlays do not make a site accessible and can interfere with assistive technology.
  • A skip link, consistent landmarks, and a single logical heading order on every page.
  • Body text at 19 pixels in Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed by the Braille Institute for readers with low vision. Text can be resized to 200 percent without loss of content.
  • All text meets or exceeds a 4.5:1 contrast ratio. Links are underlined. Focus is shown with a thick amber outline on every interactive element.
  • Every control works with a keyboard alone, and the tab order follows the reading order.
  • Every form field has a visible label and, where needed, a description. Required fields are marked in text, not by color.
  • Animation and smooth scrolling are turned off for anyone who has asked their system to reduce motion.
  • No images carry information. The site uses no video or audio.

How it was tested

Every page was tested with axe-core and pa11y automated checks against WCAG 2.2 AA, with a keyboard alone, and with a screen reader. The last full review was completed on .
